Dream #102
This year,
between April and August, I had one of
the most crazy ideas ever to do fundraising for Nepal and other projects. The
concept was called Run for Peace and consisted in running 100 marathons in 100
days to collect 100.000 €. You can check all the details about this initiative in
https://www.pedroqueiros.com/en/run-for-peace
Can you
believe that in the end I did it?? I ran 100 marathons between Lisbon and
Poland and I collected 103.011,94 €. From this value, 100K were meant to be
applied in:
- 25.000€ for
the NGO Combatants for Peace,
- 25.000€ for
the NGO Hand in Hand,
- 50.000€ to
build a School in Nepal, a project that I will present here later in the page
Dreams of Kathmandu.
What about
the remaining 3.011,94€?
I decided
to use this amount to fund scholarships and other school expenses for several
children in Nepal. These are the same kids we've been supporting for 10 years
through our dear project; it's incredible how they've grown!
See in the
next lines who will receive the funds from the donations made by hundreds of
people during the project Run for Peace! I'm proud to see all this happening,
thank you all for your support!

and 2: Tenzing Sherpa - 700€. Half of this amount will go toward his room rent
and the other half to continue paying for his Bachelor's degree in Business
Administration. Tenzing is an example of someone who wants to change the wheels
of fate. After school, he changes his uniform and even goes to work in a
restaurant. Did you know he also loves to draw? One of his works will even
appear in my book about Everest!
Photos 3
and 4: Binita Kafle - 561.94€. This amount will be used to help with her school
expenses. I'm so proud of her journey. When I met her in 2015 at Camp Hope, she
was terrified of losing her home, but she was already an excellent student. Do
you know where she is now? In the US, pursuing a degree in Biology, on a Dreams
of Kathmandu scholarship.
Photos 5
and 6: Mingmar Sherpa - 700€. She is one of the "flagship" children
of our project. We've been supporting her since the day of the earthquake, and
it's with immense pride that we'll continue helping her now that she's
emigrated to South Korea to pursue a bachelor's degree in Hotel Management.
Half of this amount will go toward a laptop, and the other half toward tuition.
Photos 7
and 8: Saraswoti Sherpa - 350€. She's in eighth grade at Pragya Sadan School
in Kathmandu. We've been friends for 10 years, and it fills my heart to be able
to help her achieve her dreams in education.
Photo 11:
Urgen Sherpa – 350€. He is the son of Mingma Sherpa, the man who took me to
the summit of Mount Everest. My gratitude to this man is eternal, and so we're
helping him, for the third year in a row, pay for little Urgen's school, now 5.
