Dream #87
In May 2023 I decided to run Everest Marathon with a single purpose: to collect funds that could provide thousands of meals to some of the most poorest communities in Kathmandu. The Program #NoHunger started three years ago in partnership with Rainbow Volunteer Club, and so far we have helped thousands of children that are starving on a daily basis in the streets of Kathmandu.
The marathon itself was painful and I ended up getting injured halfway. That of course, did not prevent me from finishing the 42 kms that connected Everest Base Camp and Namche Bazaar.
The final balance of the fundraising was a huge success and in the end we
managed to achieve the following results:
- 40 days distributing food in the streets of Kathmandu.
- A total €6,374 raised.
- A total of 13,167 meals distributed. Cost: €5,000
- A total of 120 backpacks full of school supplies distributed. Cost:
€1440.
- Total cost of the operation: €6,440
That’s right!! More than 13.000 meals and in the end we were still able to offer 120 backpacks full of school material!!! I have no words to express my happiness. We really made a difference on the lives of these kids!
Thank you so much to all the volunteers of Rainbow Volunteer Club, especially to its manager Madan Poudeyal, a blessed soul with a huge heart, a man that is always willing to help the others.
And thank you to everyone who donated for this special project, without the
participation of everyone it’s impossible to achieve these dreams and support
the people in need.
