Dream #73
Dream #73
Today I come here to fulfil an old promise.
In October
2021, I decided to climb Ama Dablam, 6856 meters, a mountain with a lot of
technical difficulties in the Himalayas, and at the same time do a fundraising
to build a new house for the Samir Bista and his family who had lost everything
in the 2015 Nepal earthquake.
Samir is a
boy from the village of Bistagaon on the outskirts of Kathmandu and I met him
shortly after the earthquake that hit Nepal on April 25, 2015.
This
fundraise was part of Project X, a project where I try to achieve big goals and
achievements and also fundraise for the projects of Dreams of Kathmandu. This
stage of Project X is described in detail in https://dreamsofkathmandu.blogspot.com/2022/03/project-x-stage-2.html
At the
time, a total of €7774 was raised for the construction of the house, resulting
from the generosity of many of you. Thank you again so much! Also it’s important
to mention that with the recent increase in material and labour costs all over
the world, it was still necessary to collect more funds and so we had the extra
help of €1500 from FVP - Vox Populi Foundation in Portugal and €2500 from the
Dwarikas Foundation in Nepal. Without these two organizations this project
could not be finished. We are so thankful and grateful for their support.
And after
15 months since the project started it is now possible to show the completion
of the work! The house is finally done! You can see several photos of Samir's
current house made with the funds you donated, and also some photos of the
construction process, the old house and the climb to Ama Dablam itself.
Special
thanks also to my friends Parmeshor Mahat and Db Basnet in Nepal who made this
dream happen on the ground and without receiving anything in return. They were
responsible for buying all the materials and getting the construction permits.
Thank you guys!
