ACTIVITY REPORT YEAR #5

 ACTIVITY REPORT YEAR #5

Congratulations Dreams of Kathmandu!

In our fifth year of activity in Nepal, we made 15 dreams come true and invested the sum of €16.921. The origin and application of funds is described in the table below.

Remember that ALL funds we receive, are 100% invested in the projects we support. This is not negotiable.

These are projects that we know in detail, and we are the ones who make all the payments directly or through the local partners we trust. Transparency, courage and reporting are always our main principles.

In terms of areas of activity, we remain focused on education, housing, health and nutrition. We always have a lot of expenses in the area of clothes and food due to the support we give to the 14 children of Sharadas Shelter Center. But our main priority continues to be education and this year we paid a total of 22 scholarships. We are proud of this achievement because we believe education is the best help we can give to the children of Nepal. Education is the weapon they can use to change their future.

The Thaiba Shelter, a project we have been supporting since the beginning of Dreams of Kathmandu 5 years ago has closed his doors. But even before they closed, we have decided to stop our support because we were not happy with the job of the responsible of the house, Mr. Tej. The 7 children have been distributed amongst other locations or went back to their villages. One of the children we keep under our radar is David Ghalan, and we have paid is scholarship for last year.

We continue focused in fundraising through Project X. In other words, I, Pedro, continue to collect donations by living big adventures around the world. This last year I climbed the mountain Ama Dablam in October 2021 and Everest in May 2022. The funds collected with both these are not yet in this year's activity report and they will be shown in the report of year 6.

We have also continued the work with our local partner in Kathmandu, the Rainbow Volunteer Club, with the program #NoHunger, where we provided thousands of meals to the neediest.

Our other partners continue to be the Dwarikas Foundation (Db Basnet and Sangita Shreshta), Operation Nepali Child (Edward Turner), Fundação Vox Populi (Luis and Paula Queirós), Bak on Bike (Pedro Bento), and other individual people that are like angels to our project and support us no matter what. This year I would like to underline the work of Parmashor Mahat, Phurpa Sherpa, Madan Podeyal, António Ferrador e familia, Ana Sá, Gonçalo Cruz, Luis Pedro Ferreira, Andreia da Costa Nogueira, Pilar Bilbao, Tiago Bilbao, Isabel Vitória, Laura Xavier, Rui Colaço, Margarida Colaço, Cristiana Rodrigues, Filipe Videira, Cristiana Rodrigues, Isabel Faria, Filipa Marcos e Maritée Onderdenwijngaard.

In the rest of the projects, we have kept our focus in helping the former families of Camp Hope, the village of Bistagaon located in the south of Kathmandu, and the children of the Sharadas orphanage. Hundreds of people and children in total! We'd like to get involved in more projects, but for now we don't want to take steps bigger than our legs. One thing at the time.

You can always consult all the information in the previous posts of our blog or contact us directly through a private message. Get involved, we still have many unfulfilled dreams in Nepal!
