Dream #13
Dream #13
The children that used to live in Camp Hope, Kathmandu, are now spread around Nepal.
Camp Hope was built after the earthquake of 25th April 2015. A magical place where 350 people, including 70 children, lived in temporary shelters, after loosing their houses in that tragic day of the earthquake.
We, Pedro and Ghazal, were there 3 years ago, and we helped these people with our own hands…
We helped buiding the tents, we helped buying food and clothes, we took people to the hospital and dentist, we helped the children doing the homework and many times we even slept in the same tents as them.
Mostly Sherpas from the Himalayas, this people became like family to us and we know their names, dreams and fears.
Now that the Camp is finished, we keep a connection with most of the people and children through social media and mobile phone. We are also in contact with the Dwarikas Foundation, our partner in Kathmandu that used to manage the Camp, in order to keep track of everyone, especially the children.
And everytime we visit Nepal, we get in contact with all of them!
We go to their villages in Tatopani! We organize lunches with delicious Pizza! We go to the houses they are renting in Kathmandu! And we visit the ones that are attending boarding schools!
For these last group of kids in the boarding school, around 10 children, we try to give some extra support and pay for shoes, socks, mosquito nets and articles of hygiene such as soaps or toothpaste.
Since they are far from their families, we feel they need more help.
All together we have given 10 pairs of shoes, 20 pairs of socks, 10 mosquito nets, 20 soaps, 20 toothpastes and offered several meals such as chicken or pizza. There are no words to describe the happiness of the children when we take them out for food. For them it's like going to Disneyland!!
We have spent a total of 500€ which we have financed through the sale of our book, "My Way to Kathmandu".
If you wanna get involved, write us to pedro_queiros@hotmail.com or ghazalvaziri@gmail.com.
