ACTIVITY REPORT YEAR #6

 ACTIVITY REPORT YEAR #6

Another year gone by and yet we don't abandon our purpose.

The initiative Dreams of Kathmandu is alive and kicking! Once again we have been able to provide a sustainable help to the people of Nepal in the areas of education, nutrition, housing and health.

Our principles haven't moved a single millimetre since we started our activity 6 years ago. The main one being the fact that ALL the collected funds are applied in the projects and people we are supporting. We don't take one euro for any administrative or travel expenses. We, Pedro and my wife Ghazal, believe this is the only way to do things and we do this because we like it.

It's not a job for us. We are not seeking any benefit with it. We do it because we want to give back to the people of Nepal. Our debt of gratitude can never be entirely paid, but yet we can try by fulfilling the dreams of the communities we are involved with.

The main projects we support are basically the same of the previous years: the children of Camp Hope, the Sharadas Shelter Center, the village of Bistagaon and also Rainbow Volunteer Club. Sometimes we also provide help to families that are not part of these projects, but where we believe we can make a difference. Our main local partner continues to be the Dwarikas foundation in the figure of her president Sangita Shreshta. Her role is key to assure we are doing a good job in the field because she knows it better than anyone.

Other local people that are fundamental for the everyday work are Parmashor Mahat, Phurpa Sherpa, Madan Podeyal, Milan Pariyar and Db Basnet. We also want to extend our gratitude the Vox Populi Foundation in Portugal and the Dawa Sherpa Foundation in Holland.

And what an year it was! Through Project X I proposed to climb Everest and I in the end did it! With that fundraising we managed to pay the education of 27 children. We have also completed an old dream by finishing Samir Bista's house in the village of Bistagaon. His family had lost everything in the 2015 earthquake and now they finally own a house they can be proud of. In total we have made 9 dreams come true. The total amount invested and the origin of the funds can be found in the table below.

We feel a huge responsibility to apply all the funds in the best possible way. For that we want to say thank you to everyone who believes in our work. Your confidence is our biggest assent and without it this project cannot survive.

Thank you so much to all of you and see you next year!
