Dream #62
Dream #62
Let's break
the events into parts… because even for me it´s hard to believe this whole
story really happened…
Six years
ago, Pilar Bilbao, a 4-year-old Portuguese girl, broke her piggy bank and
donated everything she had, around €30, to help the kids in Nepal who had lost
everything in the earthquake of April 2015.
Last year, in
2020, at the age of 9, Pilar decided to call her parents' friends and family,
and raised ALONE, around €1727.50 to buy 15 tablets and 1 computer to help
underprivileged children in online classes in Kathmandu. We reported this huge
achievement in Dream 46.
This year, I
got a call from her, and she said: “Dear Pedro, I want to help the kids in
Nepal again, what can I do?” I explained that there were two possibilities: one
that was “easy” and another that was more difficult because it involved
collecting more funds.
What do you
think she chose? The hardest one of course!!
Due to
various circumstances, two months ago, we lost the sponsor who paid for the
education of 12 of the 14 children at the Sharadas Shelter Center. Around 2600€
were missing and it was a situation that was causing me stress, the couple who
takes care of the kids and the children themselves…
But that's when Pilar showed up and saved the situation!!
She spoke
Portuguese, English and Spanish! She called, she made videos, she sent messages
and she chased the most forgotten ones! But once again, ALONE, this 10-year-old
managed to achieve her goal and raised €2607 to pay the education of these 12
children for a whole year.
Pilar gives
us hope in a better world. Thank you, Pilar, for being such a big inspiration
for our project Dreams of Kathmandu.
And thanks
to everyone from around the world who helped and also a huge THANK YOU to Pilar's
parents for bringing this angel into the world.
The list of donations is showed below.
