Dream #57
Dream #57
About a
month ago, an old friend from Lisbon, Portugal, got in touch with me, Pedro.
Vasco
Martins used to live right next to my school when I was 12 years old, and we
also played together in the same football club, the Torpedos. He had a strong
left foot if I remember well!
Vasco sent
me a message because he noticed that, in the pictures of the children we were
feeding under the #NoHunger program in Nepal (Dream #55), many of them were
BAREFOOT or had very old slippers/shoes.
From that
message, you may already be guessing what we did next: we put our hands to work
and started planning, budgeting and elaborated a strategy to give these kids
new shoes.
So, together
with our friend Madan Poudeyal from Rainbow Volunteer Clun, we found a supplier
of quality slippers, and we purchased 300 pairs for a total of €360 that were
donated by Vasco!! We chose flip flops because they are the most comfortable
shoes for the current reality of Kathmandu and because now is the rainy season
too!
These
images speak for themselves! This week we have already given 132 pairs and next
week we will give the remaining 168 pairs!
We are so
happy to see this! We truly believe this how to make things happen in our project Dreams of
Kathmandu: with courage, fieldwork and transparency!
Thank you,
Vasco, for the idea and donation! Thank you, Madan, and Rainbow Volunteer Club,
for making it all happen in Kathmandu! And thank you, to all of you, who
continue to believe and follow our projects in Nepal, even 6 years after the big
earthquake of 2015.
