Project X - Stage 1
Project
X. Stage 1.
Good
morning everyone. Today I write these words to introduce you to my new
adventure that aims to support Dreams of Kathmandu: Project X.
What is
life without adventures and new challenges? What is life without knowing our
potential and exploring the world around us? What is life without feeling in
the fullness of our senses, the strength of a dream?
My dream is
to live great adventures and at the same time collect funds to support social
causes. This concept of humanitarian adventure is what I truly passionate
about.
So, I
decided to launch Project X.
Project X
is a humanitarian adventure that aims to raise funds for the project Dreams of
Kathmandu in Nepal, the country that invaded my heart and yours 6 years ago, at
the time of the great Kathmandu earthquake in April 2015.
The
objective of Project X is to live great adventures in remote locations in the
four corners of the world, to conquer great mountains and to obtain important
rankings in the largest marathons in the world, is it possible?
Only by
trying I will know the answer to that question.
Because in
Project X, what matters is the journey itself, the attempt, and not so much the
final goals and achievements. The important thing is to share the adventures of
the journey, the decisions, the adventures, the dreams, the anxieties, the
people, the foods, the equipment, and the places involved.
Project X
is about the journey and not the final destination.
Project X
will be implemented over 7 stages in 4 years. Each of these stages will be
revealed in due course and the goal is for each new stage to be more fantastic
than the previous one.
On March 21st, 2021 I will travel to
Kenya, to the heart of Africa during 55 days, and train with the great
champions of athletics in Eldoret, village of Iten. This place could well be
called the Mecca of athletics. From here come dozens of Olympic champions in
the most diverse categories of athletics.
I will live with the Kenyan athletes and adopt
their lifestyle, in a place where everything and everyone lives for athletics.
What does it take to be a great champion? What sacrifices are behind the
Olympic medals?
The
objective of this first stage of Project X is to raise € 5,000 to pay education
expenses to several children that we are supporting in the cause Dreams of
Kathmandu.
A website
was also created in Portuguese and English, where you can learn the entire
history and contribute to the cause through the various means available: www.pedroqueiros.com
Thank you everyone for your attention!
Project X, do you dare to dream?
UPDATE: THE FINAL RESULT OF THE FUNDRAISING FOR PROJECT X - STAGE 1 WAS 6538€! THANK YOU EVERYONE WHO GOT INVOLVED.
