Dream #37

Dream #37

Pedro Bento is an angel! There is no other way of describing this portuguese man. Last year, in 2019, he took his bycicle from Portugal to Nepal to fundraise for our project Dreams of Kathmandu. And now, in 2020, with all the problems in the world caused by the pandemic Covid-19, he decided again to support the people of Nepal!

This time he chose to take on a challenge called Everesting. Basically it consists in riding a bycicle upwards a mountain several times, in order to gain the altitude of the highest mountain in the world: 8848 meters. It's a very hard challenge, and it can only be achieved with plenty of mental and physical strenght. Pedro is blessed with both, and he managed to fundraise 1691€ for our projects here in Dreams of Kathmandu! Bravo Pedro, it's because of people like you that we keep believing and fighting for the children and people of Nepal.

The destiny of these funds is as follows: 776€ to support the scholarships of the children Mingmar and Tenzing Sherpa. We will show the aplication of those funds in a future Dream. And 915€ to give food support to 40 families in the village of Yarmasing. These are the families that used to live in Camp Hope, their temporary house in Kathmandu after the earthquake of 2015.

The Corona situation is very serious in Nepal, and has left many people without their jobs and regular income. On top of this, the monsoon and rainy season that usually hits Nepal during the summer, was very hard this year. Many people lost their houses and crops. Landslides caused the destruction of roads and houses. Some people died...

And this is why we decided, together with Pedro Bento, to support the villlage of Yarmasing, located 100 kms north of Kathmandu, close to the Himalayas. With the support of Phurpa and Norpu Sherpa we were able to buy food and other goods such as rice, salt, oil, sugar, soap and school materials for the children! In total we helped 40 families, around 200 people! It was a huge logisitic effort but in the end the mission was accomplished with success!

We are really happy to continue helping Nepal and making a difference, especially in such a difficult year like 2020. More than ever, we need everybody's support.
