Dream #34

Dream #34

Every year, between the end of May and beginning of September, the rainy season happens in Nepal, the monsoon. This climatic event is fundamental for the survival of the people because it provides water for the crops, mainly rice, other cereals and vegeables.

But the intensity of these rains is so strong and hard, that every year many disasters occur such as landslides and floods. This situation is more serious in the rural areas of the country and causes the suffering of many people that have fragile houses and living conditions.

This was the case of the house of Sameer Bista.

Sameer is one of the children that the project Dreams of Kathmandu is providing a scholarship. He is an amazing boy, good student, he helps his parents a lot and he is always smiling. A true inspiration for us.

Sameer lives in Bistagaon, south of Kathmandu, and two weeks ago we got a phone call from him saying that there was a flood in his house and they needed some help to purchase new construction materials.

We decided to get involved and we made an appeal in our Facebook page. Then, with the help of Maria da Paz Mascarenhas and Elsa Ramires, two amazing portuguese women that contacted us, we gave them 70€ to help. You might be thinking this is not a lor, but for these people it means the world and allowed them to fix their house!!

And the good news is that we started receiving more and more contacts of people that want to help Sameer and his family. So now we have a new dream: WE WANT TO BUILD A NEW HOUSE FOR SAMEER. We are gonna make a plan, a budget and we are gonna fundraise for this and make things happen! We are so happy excited!

Wanna get involved? Contact us in our e-mails pedro_queiros@hotmail.com, ghazalvaziri@gmail.com or through our Facebook page Dreams of Kathmandu. Together, let's make dreams come true in Kathmandu!
