Dream #25

Dream #25

On April 2019, we became aware of a very dramatic situation.

One of the projects we support, the Thaiba shelter, had no money to pay the rent of the building where they lived. Or in other words, they were about to be thrown out to the streets by the landlord.

Thaiba shelter is a place where 8 Nepalese children live and are taken care by the couple Tej and Shanti.

This was indeed a very serious situation, because Tej and Shanti had no money for the rent and us, Dreams of Kathmandu were struggling to find a solution.

One of the proposed solutions was to move the children to another shelter, the Sharadas Center, one of the projects that Dreams of Kathmandu also supports. We spoke to Tej and Shanti and they were very reluctant to do this. These children are like sons and daughters for them. But what else could be done?

We knew the children were really sad with this situation and some of them were crying all day and night… but else could be done? The price of the rent was 250€ per month or 3000€ per year. We didn't have that money...

That night me and Ghazal had a very hard time to sleep… our hearts were heavy and we couldn't stop thinking about the children. The same children that have been abandoned by their families years ago. The same children that were victims of labour and other types of abuses. Did they deserve this?

So we tried to find a solution. We spoke to our family, explained the situation and my father, Luis Queirós, donated the necessary funds. The whole 3000€!!

It was a big relief for all of us and especially for the children because they can smile again and be happy. And instead of the old house, Tej and Shanti found a new house, also in Kathmandu, in a location called Tchecho. Here are some pictures of the new house.

Thank you very much Luis Queirós for helping us and the children. You really made a diference and you make the dreams of this children a reality!!

Once again this work is only possible because of the partnership we have with Edward Turner and his NGO Operation Nepali Child. He is the one monitoring everything, distributing the funds and supervising the education and well being of the children. So we also want to send a big THANK YOU to Ed, without you none of this would be possible.

Please contact us if you wanna get involved with our projects: pedro_queiros@hotmail.com and ghazalvaziri@gmail.com. Next week we are travelling to Nepal again and there is still a lot to be done!!
