Dream #12
Dream #12
We met Mingnar and Tenzing Sherpa 3 years ago.
They are sister and brother and they come from the north region of Nepal, very close to the city of Tatopani in the border with China, right in the middle of the Himalayas.
We met them in Kathmandu, in a park next to the Boudha area where many thousands were living in temporary shelters.
They were there bacause they were victims of the earthquake that happened some days before on the 25th April 2015. Because of that tragedy, they lost their houses and they were evacuated to the city, together with friends and family.
When we met them, they were scared and frightened. They were dirty and traumatized. They had nothing except the clothes on their bodies...
But during the last 3 years, a lot has changed.
Mingmar and Tenzing lived in Camp Hope and they managed to go back to school, have a balanced diet, shelter, protection and most of all dignity. They recovered their trust, confidence and hope in the future. They became happy children again!!
3 years have passed and now that the Camp is gone, we want to continue helping them.
So, through our initiative Dreams of Kathmandu, we decided to support their education by paying their school fees in Mount Kalaish School.
This is a boarding school located in the center of Kathmandu, where the kids have lessons, sport activities and also stay for sleeping.
We are so happy for being able to provide them with this opportunity!
In total, the cost of the fees for both of them is 1500€. Since we don't have enough funds available from donations we, Pedro and Ghazal, are paying this money from our own pockets.
And we do it with a sense of gratitude. We are more than happy to share with them what we have!
