Dream #94
Dream #94
João Hipólito
Raposo is a portuguese man that worked as a volunteer in Nepal in the years
after the earthquake of 2015. He was directly involved in the project “Our
Dream Village”, the reconstruction of 96 houses for the inhabitants of Camp
Home, a refugee camp created in the center of Kathmandu to host the victims of
the tragedy.
Sometimes I
say that João has never left Nepal. His body left, but his soul remained. People
still remember him frequently, and ask how he is.
Now in Portugal,
João is a very busy man, but even though, he never abandoned the people of
Nepal and the project Dreams of Kathmandu. Sometimes he calls must and he says
he wants to make a donation, and he gives us total freedom to use it.
In December
2023, he made a donation of 3000€, and parts of it we used to accomplish some
dreams. But there were still 1200€ remaining, so we used them in October 2024
to pay the scholarships of three children from the old Camp Hope, also friends
of João.
-Sneha
Sherpa: 500€
-Alya
Sherpa: 350€
-Raju
Karkee: 350€
These three
children are very hard workers in school and have excellent grades. We are committed
to continue supporting them as long as they deserve it. Because we give, but we
always demand maximum effort from ones we help. Below you can find the invoices
for Alya Sherpa and Raju Karkee. Sneha Sherpa has recently finished her bachelor
in Business Management but we decided, together with João, to continue giving
her the scholarship for one more year.
Thank you João and thank you to everyone that continues to support our project. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of real people.
