Dream #93

Together we are stronger.

Since this project started, almost eight years ago, in October 2017, it’s the unity amongst all the participants that makes ALL possible. It’s because we are ONE and because we help each other, that it’s possible to make accomplish beautiful dreams in the capital of Nepal, Kathmandu.

This is how we work, with courage, transparency and love from day one! We collect funds in our community of friends and family, and we apply 100% of those donations to build houses, to buy food and give scholarships, amongst many other initiatives.  

Every year we struggle to finance the education of the children in Sharadas Shelter. The value of their school fees, but guess what? We don’t give up on them! These children (some are orphans and others remain in this institution because their relatives live too far away in rural areas), are like sons and daughters too us. We believe in them, they all have amazing grades, and that’s why we are proud to announce one more year supporting their education.    

Of the fourteen original children, eleven remain in the house and we are supporting ten of them with their studies: Pabitra, Rupendra, Sajan, Sapana, Lok, Bigyan, Prakash, Anjali, Sabina and Samuel

Two have left the shelter, Ashika and Ajita, but the first one we are still helping in her university studies (see Dream #91). Salome is the daughter of Milan and Sharadas, the couple who run the shelter, so they provide for her expenses. The fourth one, Kusum, recently left Kathmandu to join his family in the east of Nepal, and ended up abandoning his studies.    

The total expenses for the year 2024-2025 were:

-          - 4782,31€ of school fees.

-          - 1320€ of stationery and uniforms.

Starting with this last expense, the 1320€. This value was paid it in May 2024, with funds that we collected through the last humanitarian adventure in Japan: 50 Marathons in 50 Days. The invoices are as follow.

 

Regarding the biggest slice of the cost, the school fees, I went my self to Nepal in October 2024, and paid all of this amount directly to the schools. A grand total of 4782,31€ or 703.000 NPR.

And where did we get these funds? Didn’t I tell you the beginning of this composition, that together we are stronger?

We could only afford to make these payments because I was able to join many donations from different sources:

-          2347,09€: Project 50 Marathons in 50 Days.

-          810€: Auction Sporting FC jerseys offered by our friend Mateus Nabais.

-          1135€: Sales of Books in autumn 2024. I managed to sell a total of 227 books in social media and conferences. Each book contributes with a donation of 5€.

-          200€: Luis Ferreira, Andreia Nogueira.

-          86€: Lídia Branco.

-          100€: Teresa Costa Lemos.

-          50€: Luis Almeida.

-          54,22€: Pedro Queirós (to complete the final value I also made a donation).

Total: 4782,31€
